Gledhill's anti-vacuum valve for the gas assembly of Electra Mate 2000 and Gulfstream II units. This valve is used in hot water heaters to prevent a vacuum from forming anywhere where there is a chance that the rate of draw-off will be greater than the rate of flow to an appliance's intake, which could be a problem in homes with several outlets located below the heater. A check cartridge is typically held closed by system pressure. However, when a vacuum occurs, suction opens the check cartridge, enabling air to flow through and restoring pressure.
